Restoration of the Roman road NUMBER XVIII

The restored section covers a stretch of 800 meters between A Portela de Home, at mile 34, and the place of Baños de Riocaldo, located approximately between miles 38 and 39. It has a small slope about 5 to 6%, to enable the movement of people, animals, and carts. It has a platform of 6-7 meters, where the rightness of their alignments takes precedence, which has been executed along half of the hillside having retaining walls of its filling. The road surface was made with a base of boulders and land; and a layer of top dressing composed of granite or aggregate.

The restoration of the road was designed much further than a fitting for a path. And it was set in building a narrow road paved with stone and granite, slightly high in some sections of the existing esplanade, which was transformed from the old trace while taking advantage from the stretches of the modern road paved with current stone. The runoffs were gathered in order not to damage the new road with ditches, stone culverts, or fords.
