Consolidation of the Bridge San Alberte

The Bridge of San Alberte was built in the 14th century. It has been extended, repaired and adapted for the Camino Real from Madrid to A Coruña.

It has two arches of granite keystones. The one on the left is from the Middle Ages and has a semicircular arch axis with a span of 8,4 m. The one on the right was built in the 18th century with ogival form and a span of 8,25 m. The width between parapets is reduced (2,70 m).

The damages the bridge presented were caused by the vaults articulation that caused the subsidence of the keystone in the medieval one as well as its partial collapse. The pillar cutwater was very damaged and had a partial loss of its masonry, and several faces of the structure showed important collapses that needed to be fixed.
