Restoration of bridge of Faramontaos

This bridge is a traditional construction, erected across the Faramontaos river, in the municipality of Xinzo de Limia (Ourense).

The bridge consists of eight trabeated openings, with spans ranging from 1,55 and 2,50 m, formed by slabs of stone based on cantilevers that rest on the head of pillars, thus shortening the opening spans and making them more resistant structures. The four central pillars have a rectangular floor-plan with triangular cutwaters and pyramidal tops. The rest of pillars also have a rectangular floor-plan, but do not have cutwaters.

At the moment of the restoration, the bridge is 49,00 meters long, and its road without parapets, has a slow ridge and is 3,40 meters long.

The stonework exhibits good quality, both in stone and in cut technique that can be seen in the cutwaters, tops and cornices, as opposite to the irregularity of the rest of constructive elements.
