The actions designed to strengthen the masonry of the bridge and to reinforce the vault with a thread of concrete had to be altered during the works, since an old cover of slate slabs aimed to prevent water infringing the bridge was discovered in the interior of the bridge.
For the works originally planned, a metallic falsework had been assembled tight to the guideline of the arch, having crossbeams and oak wedges. The road was risen to make the planned strengthening, appearing at this moment the aforementioned cover. Due to its evident patrimonial interest, it was decided to leave it as it was found and not to have it dismantled. The planned reinforcement for the ceiling was changed by concrete injections that filled and consolidated the interior filler of the bridge.
The action was completed with the implementation of a new pavement, similar to the original one with pebbles and on-edge slates; and with the illumination of the road consisting on low power small flush lighting fixtures which are embedded in the railings.
