Restoration of the medieval Roman Bridge Navea

In 2002 the restoration project was developed by the civil engineers S. Alvarado and M. Durán, with the ultimate goal of repairing the damage that the bridge had on a wall flanking the right buttress, and complementing the action with the impermeability of the roadway to reduce seepage of water from the road. The aforementioned wall was deformed by the collapse of its foundation and was convex, which is the reason why it had been propped up with come cross sections some years earlier. Apart from correcting these damages, the opportunity was taken to join the walls by bolts both downstream and upstream of the buttress in order to improve its stability.

The action was completed by cleaning the vegetation that grew in the factory, and with the waterproofing of the platform by placing some plastic sheets; after the removal of existing pavement and the corresponding case opening; the execution of a base of lightly reinforced concrete; and the placement and restoration of the old road slabs and masonry.
